would like and you wouldn't mind your daughter marrying into..!

Who'd have thought little old Ely could put on shows like this and
produce talent like this. Well to be honest you'd expect the shows
but the talent was a real surprise. The talent I'm talking about is
four piece band Mushroom Shed. Performing a selection of covers of
classic
and modern rock anthems the sheds played with a professionalism which
made you realise why they have built a following over the border in
Newmarket.
In
terms of musical ability Mushroom Shed have an arsenal of riffs, power
chords, beats and bass lines to abuse the senses.

Guitarist
Martin Minnett was blasting out faultless widdling which I found even
more remarkable when told that he'd never had a guitar lesson in his
life. It was clear to those watching that the rhythm section of Scott
Bloodworth on bass and Scott Wilson on drums have a gelled understanding
which comes through in the music.
And there's no sultry muso type moods with these two as both clearly
were having fun throughout the night even joking with the crowd. Through
no fault of the bands during the first set singer Josh Neal was getting
drowned out a touch and I was left wondering could he match his band
mates talents.
I needn't have worried as after the interval the band returned for
their second set and a clearer vocal rang out proving to be just as
polished as the rest of the playing.
NEW
- THE BIT IN THE MIDDLE
New to the L!VE G!Gs @ PURE
we proudly present
"The Bit in the Middle"
The
half time set was provided by two thirds of last gigs bill
toppers Jeff.
After
all the instrument swapping at the end of that gig drummer
Ian decided to try his hand on the acoustic guitar accompanying
Jeff singer and Pure resident Andrew for some more of their
fine tunes as well as a few covers for good measure.
I'm waiting for all three of the band to prove themselves
on a couple of spoons, comb and tissue paper and wash board
seeings as they've proved their mastery on all conventional
instruments.
Oh and if your drummer can play more than just the drums does
that mean "drummer jokes" no longer apply to him?
i.e "Who is the guy that you always find hanging around
with Musicians..?
Just a thought...
If you fancy filling "The bit in the Middle" turn
up on the night and have a word with Fil or send
him an email anytime. If you email Fil will gaurentee
you spot, on the night it might be tight..!
There will be a Classic Ovation Acoustic Guitar available
on the night so no need to bring your own and you will get
a "write up" here which includes the chance to include
any messages about forth coming performances or Record Releases..!

Mushroom
Shed returned to the stage for their second set and once again left
the crowd nodding in both rhythm and agreement with their choice of
tracks to cover.
I couldn't
help but notice the number of Hendrix and Stereophonics tracks played.
Not a bad thing though as the Hendrix tunes were a great means of
showing off Martins guitar wizardry while Josh could more than cut
it in a Kelly Jones styley.
But
with influences as varied and great as theirs surely it's just a matter
of time before a stack of fantastic original material comes our way.
And lets face it with that kind of talent new material is a mouth
watering prospect.
