Patrician Jazz is an Ely based duo of two experienced musicians,
Pat Brandon on keyboard and soprano saxophone, and Frank Noble on various
saxophones (melody, tenor and alto). Their musical preference is modern
jazz, with an interesting repertoire of standard themes and original compositions.

Their style of playing cool and relaxed modern jazz generably finds an
appreciative audience as they will draw from their extensive repertoire
of beautiful melodic tunes by well known composers such as Gershwin, blended
with original jazz themes by Parker, Coltrane and other jazz innovators.
Partician Jazz also play original music by the Quartet keyboard player,
Pat Brandon, a music professional with long experience in playing and
composing in the company of many top names in jazz, and now well-known
as a music teacher in Ely. On saxophone is Frank Noble, whose formative
years in jazz were in London Jazz Clubs, including forming a group with
alto saxophonist Peter King, in the latter's early days, before Peter
became an international star.
After a long period away from music, mainly living abroad, Frank has returned
to playing jazz. The Quartet's double bass player, Ivan Garford, studied
Music at Goldsmiths' College, and Double Bass at the Royal Academy of
Music. He is well known in the Fenland area as a teacher of the Bass and
Piano, and has been Musical Director for many local Operatic Societies
in the area, having produced over twenty shows in recent years. Chris
Love, on drums, has played professionally over a wide range of music and
is a founder member of the Alan Norris Big Band. Being a member of the
Patrician Jazz Quartet has returned him to small group jazz which he has
loved since seeing Joe Morello play with the Dave Brubeck Quartet. So,
if you want to listening to great jazz, come along and enjoy the music
of this fine band.
