Anient Trail from Little Downham to Ely

In the Days of Yore the Church reigned supreme. Kings & Queens, Dukes & Lords came and went, but the Hierarchy of the Church continued through fire, flood, famine and war. Standing firm and strong, these pious Priests held the souls of the peoples & peasants to ensure devine deliverence unto God's Kingdom.

The Bishops of ely ranked high amongst the clergy and were bestowed Great Palaces in the City and in nearby Little Home on the Dune.

The Bishops Palace in Ely has in recent years been adopted by The Sue Ryder Foundation and serves as a Hosbice for the teminaly ill.

The Bishops Palace in Downham has in it's recent past been a Restaurant, Antiques Showroom and Artists Gallery.

The Bishops Walk is an Ancient Trail & Bridle path connecting the Bishops Palace of Little Downham to the Monastic Buildings of Ely.
